FAQ for researching land records in Warren County Recorder’s Office:

To start researching land records in Warren County to locate a deed or legal description, you need to start by using the Warren County Auditor’s website
www.co.warren.oh.us/auditor/property_search/index.htm

Two types of searches can be done: “Real Estate Property Search” or “Advanced Search”. By clicking the “Real Estate Property Search” link at the top of the page, seven searching choices can be performed.  You can search by:

  1. Map
  2. Owner’s Name
  3. Property Address
  4. Parcel ID
  5. Account Number
  6. Subdivision of Lot
  7. Advanced Search

Using the advanced search feature multiple search criteria can be used.  The information found in these searches can be imported to an excel file for later review.  The direct web address for the advanced search is as follows:

These online records begin about 1978 and continue to the current date.  Searches can be performed using a variety of search criteria as listed above.   By using the "advanced search" feature, searches can also be done by acres, bathrooms, bedrooms, city/village, living area (square feet), municipality, neighborhood ID, owner’s name, sale date, sale price, state use code, street name, subdivision, tax district, total true value, township, year built, or zip code.  Once you find the property of interest, click on the link.  You will be taken to that specific page with details for that property. Property account and parcel ID numbers are not the same thing.

At the top of the property search result page there are links for the following details on that specific property. Clicking on any of these links will provide more details on the property.

Above is the information listed on the Sales History link. Notice the date to the left. The grantor and grantee are both listed too.

The above page is for the Recorder’s Data.  Notice the date book and page and type of document is listed for each document.  This detailed page can be used to track names of owners, dates of sale or transfers and all applicable reference book details from the current date to about 1978.  All the original books are stored in the recorder’s office.  This online record makes it much easier and faster to track the property.  Following the entry to its beginning date will lead you back to the books and allow you to track the property back to its origins.  The remainder of the searching prior to 1978 must be completed using either the old books or by microfilm in the Recorder’s Office.
